Cultural Center Mareel by Gareth Hoskins Architects

Mareel is the northernmost cultural center in the entire United Kingdom, on the Eastern coast of Shetland Islands. Studio Garreth Hoskins equipped it with a simple but robust shape, that reflects the architecture and materials used in the local fish industry.

Situated in the historic dock of Hay, overlooking Bressay Sound, and sheltered from water by the dry land between the Shetlands and the island of Bressay, Marell hosts a multifunctional auditorium, two cinemas, a recording studio and one for multimedia production, rehearsal rooms, teaching spaces and a bar.
